2016 Innovations

  • SCI – Michigan Issues Committee: Chapter Past-President and Regional Representative, Neal Porter was involved with the creation of this committee to create a stronger voice for Legislative issues from chapters located in Michigan.
  • The Flint Regional Chapter organized a project to fund an archery range at the Michigan DNR’s new Outdoor Adventure Center in downtown Detroit. 7 other chapters participated in the project which qualified for Pittman-Robertson funds.
  • SCI Flint/Pheasants Forever Joint Project: SCI Flint is working with 3 Pheasants Forever chapters to improve habitat in the Lapeer State Game Area.
  • Online bidding was offered for hunts offered at our fundraiser to pull in revenue from places other than our normal customer base. This was tied in with our website auction item descriptions. Several items were sold online and it increased our live auction revenue
  • SCI Flint / RGS Habitat Weekend: To get members involved with a hands on conservation program, SCI Flint sent three members to Lee Grand Game Area to plant trees making the site more habitat friendly for small game animals.
  • Woods-N-Water Outdoor Show: SCI Flint promoted SCI at this show and sold new memberships to our organization.
  • Along with supporting our traditional programs, we have been actively working on our Safari Wish program. Proceeds from our first auction item listed during our fundraiser were slated for this event. We work directly with a specific donor at our fundraiser to sponsor this event.
