Education Programs
The Flint Regional Chapter has a strong commitment to the mission of Safari Club International.
To help accomplish the goals of the mission, the Flint Chapter has been active in sending local teachers to the American Wilderness Leadership School. These workshops are held each summer at the SCI facilities at Jackson Hole, Wyoming and also at Bryant Pond, Maine. Our chapter has sponsored almost 50 local teachers over the past ten years of our involvement in the AWLS program. If a teacher is interested in being sponsored by our chapter, he or she can download the application form online. The application must be submitted to our chapter by April 1st. Teachers selected will be notified by mid-May, to allow time for making travel arrangements.
Our chapter is also involved in sending local youth to the SHAP (Student Hunter Apprentice Program) held at Sleeper State Park on the 1st weekend in August. Upon successfully completing this course, the students will earn both their Michigan Hunter Safety Card and the IBEP (International Bowhunter Education Program) Certificate. When these applications become available, they will be posted to this site.
Other programs available through SCI include B.O.W. (Becoming an Outdoors Woman), the Student AWLS Program and the Hunter Apprentice Program. There are also several chapter scholarships awarded each year to both undergraduate and post graduate students.
If you are interested in learning more about these programs or other programs offered by SCI, view the links listed below or contact the Education committee chair of the Flint Regional Chapter (using the form below).
